People eat at the Old Pink? They cook food there? I’ve been away from Buffalo for a long time. But ain’t no way I’m eating in the Old Pink.

    Chuck,

Then all the more for those who “get it”. Their food is famous …for being fantastic. The few things they make, they make better than almost anyone in Buffalo. Their steak sandwich is an entire NY strip steak (yes, an entire un-chopped steak filet)…on a fine sub type roll with cheese and grilled onions and peppers – very highly respected among those in the know. People go there strictly for the food. I understand your initial reticence (it’s a very rough “rock” type bar) but you gotta give it a try man. ~ Nelson

Like many things in Buffalo, the Old Pink has many sides to it. Anyway, nice series and video. I will check out the Europa place when I’m in Buffalo in June. Whats the address of Europa?

  6. Nelson Starr Says:

    Chuck,

It’s 484 Elmwood Ave. Just South of The Elmwood Lounge and right next door to Faherty’s. Phone: 716-884-1100, Web: http://europabuffalo.com/. They don’t accept reservations and they don’t accept credit cards – cash only. But it’s worth it!!! Tell them Nelson sent you!!!

Glad you like the show. Stay tuned for more upcoming episodes. Thanks for the support and commentary – please spread the word!!!! ~N

Just found this site and as a former Buffalonian, it’s awesome.

Used to hit the Old Pink before it was the “Old” and never had qualms about eating there. Entering the bathroom was another matter.

I had college friends visit in the summer and they couldn’t believe a bar that had purple mowhawk guys with safety pins through their cheek be drinking in a bar with the preppy overflow from the Brick Bar. They could not imagine this eclectic mix mingling in their home towns.

Great site, great bar, great city.

Great! I found out about you from Peter the coffee guy [we used to work @ Premier together]. We had a discussion of Anthony Bourdain. Watched some of your videos, & especially liked the St. Patty’s day episode….. I am the suburbanite looking to rediscover/discover Buffalo. Just like Santa, I’m making a list & you’ve filled in a few missing links & interesting lines. Love your website. Will return. Got a chuckle from your amusing balogna: rest of the cuts intertwined into a tapastry…..sorry, not verbatum! Gotta go watch Anthony. Keep up the great work!

as a former bartender-steak sandwich maker @ the pink there is absolutely nothing like it, every bartender there puts their own flair 2 it which makes each and every sandwich the ultimate BEST. People from far and wide come 2 c and experience the whole PINK atmosphere u haven’t lived till u have experienced it. Thx Molly 4 our home away from home.
